Office Max laptop specials this week (March 9 to 15, 2008)

What does the week of March 9 to 15, 2008 have in-store at Office Max in terms of notebook and laptop computers? Let's take a look!

For all the specials be sure to check the Office Max Computer Specials page. Following are a few spotlight models.

At $1000 even, you can find the HP Pavilion dv6772nr, with an AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-64 Processor, 2gb Memory, 250GB Hard Drive, 15.4" WXGA Brightview Display, HD-DVD ROM & SuperMulti DVD Burner Combo Drive, NVidia GeForce 8400M Graphics, 802.11 a/b/g WLAN, Windows Vista Home Premium, and 1-Year Limited Warranty. As with all things Office Max (and Best Buy), there are no rebates.

So what's the appeal of the above? It's a multimedia-savvy laptop, and its price dropped because of the failure of the HD-DVD high def disc format to survive. We talked about this last week.

If you like convertibles, convertible laptops that is, then you may be interested in the special online sale of the HP Pavilion tx1205us. This has a 12" widescreen display that can swivel and tilt (thus convertible). This is the definining characteristic of this laptop which also features an AMD Turion TL-56 processor, 1gb memory, 160gb hard disk, Vista premium, built-in fingerprint reader, supermultiformat dvd burner, 4lbs weight, wireless, built-in webcam, lightscribe and such. Keep in mind this is a convertible screen, but not a touchscreen!

Sony fans, there is something for you too, the Sony VAIO CR220E, which sports a 14.1" widescreen and stands out in Cosmopolitan Pink (read: pink). The power is not pink, it is an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 processor. Its "elephant specs" include 2gb RAM, 200GB hard disk drive, and an 8x Dual-Layer DVD Burner. It also has the Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN WLAN, Vista Home Premium, and lots more one would expect for a $1200 laptop! But if you don't like pink, they also have the "Sangria Red" (read: red), or "Indigo Blue" (aka blue), or "piano black" (aka black).

We don't want to be accused of drinking the big brand Kool Aid, so let's feature someone else, how about Everex? The Everex Stepnote ST5340T is a 12.1" Ultra Portable Notebook, with an AMD Athlon TK-53 processor, 1gb RAM, 100gb disk, Vista Premium, Dual-Layer DVD Burner, and under 4.5 lbs.

And for those with itchy credit cards who want to spend big bucks, well, we have something for you too! It is the *drumroll* HP Pavilion HDX9010NR, with a 20.1" Ultra Brightview Display. That's right, not a typo, a twenty inch display! The power is given by an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 Processor, 2gb memory, 240gb hard disk drive, Hybrid TV Tuner (ATSC and NTSC), 20.1", HD-ROM, Dockable Media Center Remote, builtl-in fingerprint reader, and 64-bit Vista Ultimate.
