Two Apple Mac Book Pro Specials (with rebates even) at Amazon

Amazon has a couple of rebate specials on two Apple MacBooks. That's right, a $150 mail-in rebate towards the purchase of these two Apple MacBooks. Let's take a closer look:

First up is the Apple MacBook Pro MA896LL/A, which has a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive, and a 15.4" widescreen display. The price? $1744 after the $150 mail-in rebate.

Next up is the Apple MacBook Pro MA897LL/A, a 17" Laptop, with similar specs, but a 17" display. That will cost you extra, as the price is $2250 after the $150 MIR.

The rebate has generated enough buzz about these that the 15" MacBook is already in the Amazon Top 15 Notebooks best sellers list. Apple fans are shoping in droves at Amazon, as their best sellers list is filled with Apple notebooks, including the #1 spot occupied by the MB403LL/A at $1220 after $75 MIR. Apple also currently has the #4, #7, #8, #14 (the aforementioned MacBook Pro), and #20 spots covered with its laptops.

What makes this showing by Apple even more impressive is that the Apple computers are selling for a whole lot more than the other top 25 laptops. Of course one could point out that Apple is the only one making Apple laptops, while PCs have dozens and dozens of manufacturers making dozens and dozens of models each.

Another interesting trend to observe is that the ASUS Eee PCs are hot sellers at Amazon. Not sure if it's the low price, the coolness factor, the small size, or they are less intimidating, but people are buying them it seems :) Just the other day I saw a group of seniors at a cafe using up their Eee PC.

And how can you resist them? They look so deliciously edible, look at this green tea lime ASUS Eee ultra portable right below, going for just $300:

Don't expect to run complicated Photoshop processing on these guys though, they have an 800mhz Celeron processor, 512mb memory, 2gb hard disk and are preloaded with the one and only Linux. Go Penguin Go! :)
