Hot Memorial Day laptop deals at Fry's electronics

The Fry's Electronics Memorial Day sale weekend ad is out in the Friday newspapers, adn there are some nice laptop deals worth lining up for! Here we go...

Hot Deals for sure!
The Helen of Troy of the lot is perhaps the unnamed Toshiba Satellite, selling for $500 without any rebates. This includes an AMD Turion 64 X2 DC processor, 2gb of memory, 160gb hard disk, dvd burner, 15.4" widescreen display, b/g wireless, and Vista.

Fans of more mobile laptops may be interested in the 14.1" widescreen HP dv2840se, with an AMD Turion 64 X2 DC processor, 4gb of memory, 250gb hard disk, dvd burner with lightscribe, a/b/g/n wireless and bluetooth, built-in webcam, and 64-bit Vista SP1. Limit one per customer. The price? $800 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Not bad at all!

Blu-Ray Laptops waiting for you!
If you are ready for a laptop with BluRay, BluRay-ROM that is, then you can get the HP dv6880se for $1000 after a $50 mail-in rebate. So why four figures for this laptop? Well, BluRay for one, but also a Centrino Core 2 Duo processor, 3gb memory, 250gb hard disk, dvd burner as well, 15.4" widescreen, wireless, and Vista SP1.

If you prefer your BluRay-ROM powered laptop to also be used for entertainment purposes, then you are probably going to be interested in one that has a 17" widescreen display, because bigger is better when watching high-def movies, especially on the small screens of computers, compared to the 40" and 50" and 60" of high-def LCD and plasma television sets. So with all that in mind, the HP dv9830us can be yours for $1200 after a $50 mail-in rebate. This also includes 4gb of ddr2 memory, 320gb hard disk, wireless, dvd burner and 64-bit Vista SP1. The processor is the Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo T5550.

Fine, but how about a laptop with a BluRay burner, aka BluRay Read/Write drive? Well, you do have to pay more, but not as much as you may perhaps think! The Fujitsu n6470-112 can be yours for just $1500 without rebates. This also includes the Centrino Core2 Duo T5550, 3gb memory, 320gb hard disk, fingerprint reader, wireless (quad mode alphabet soup), Vista, and a beautiful 17" widescreen as we said before.

If you need a power boost of the above spec, the Fujitsu n6470-111 can be yours for $1800 and this gives you the T5750 processor instead, a 500gb hard disk drive instead, and a Express Card analog/digital TV tuner with a remote, to complete your portable digital entertainment experience. Both are one per customer, so do keep the wig and moustache and fur coat handy in the car :)

The Laptop is the Artwork
If you want an artistically creative laptop that causes eyes to focus on you when you use it, then perhaps you might be interested in the HP dv2890nr artist edition. Apart from the creative style and artwork on the laptop, you get an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo processor, 3gb memory, 250gb hard disk, 14.1" widescreen, dvd burner with lightscribe, a/b/g/n wireless, built-in webcam, and Vista SP1. The price? $850 without rebates, but only one per customer, so keep that moustache and wig handy in the car ;-)

More Memorial Day Weekend laptops
If you like really portable laptops (eg 13.3" widescreen), then consider the Toshiba U405-S2820 going for $850 and without any rebates. Apart from a lovely 13.3" widescreen, you get an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo processor, 2gb memory, 250gb hard disk, super multi format dvd burner, wireless, and Vista.

If you prefer some more processing power, the Toshiba U405-S2830 is available for $1000 and no rebates. This includes the Centrino Core 2 Duo T8100 processor instead and has 3gb of memory instead of two.

Sony fans can get the Vaio sz750NC for $1700 but without any rebates. You get an Intel Centrino Core 2 duo T8100 processor, 2gb of memory, 250gb hard disk, a lovely 13.3" WXGA widescreen display, built-in webcam and finger-print reader, dvd burner of course, wireless alphabet soup along with Sprint EVDO-WWAN, Vista Premium, and lots more!

Apple fans can get the Macbook 2.4 Ghz, in black finish for $1500. The processor is the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, alogn with 2gb memory, 250gb hard disk, and dvd burner. Or you can get three Wintel-based laptops for the same price. MacBooks put the "O" in overpriced, but Apple fans keep buying them :)

If you want a 22" widescreen display to pair the laptop when at the home or office, the Envision G22wk can be yours for just $190 after a $60 mail-in rebate. Not bad at all!

A generic four-port USB 2.0 hub goes for just $3 and that's without any rebates. Load up! They are disposable prices :)

K-Data is having Express Card USB flash drives which range from $45 for 8gb to $140 for 32gb. There are so many options for external memory these days, it's your choice. You can also get standard usb flash drives, memory cards, use dvds and cds, online storage, external hard disks, and so much more! No need to carry an elephant in your back pocket anymore ;-)

Rebate Reminder
If you hate rebates, it's a good idea to avoid deals that require a rebate. If you are going to use a rebate, you have to do it whole-heartedly, because you have to:
1) read the instructions
2) follow the instructions
3) make copies of everything you before you submit
4) submit stuff before the due dates
5) track and babysit the rebate
6) chase the rebate processor in case there are problems
7) cash the check (easiest step)
