The Inbox (Lenovo IdeaPad U110 unboxed and other stories)

Are you infatuated with the new Lenovo IdeaPad U110? If yes, you will be tantalized by the unboxing ceremony at Engadget. Yes, they got their hands-on one of these new lovelies! Lenovo, where is ours? :) Of course this is a different type of unboxing than Battlestar Galactica, where they "boxed Xena". We won't say too much for those who have not yet seen Season 2/3 of BSG :)

What happened this week in the world of laptops? CNet's Crave high-tech blog has posted their week in review. With so many laptops and so little time, this is a much needed feature for those who can't just follow every single gadget blog update.

If you are not afraid of voiding your warranty, and you are the brave, boldly-going type, then take a look at this EeePC 900 derivative. Oh my!

The new Comp USA is offeringa special promotion with PayPal, save 10% off an order of $200+ and get 10% cashback via PayPal, maximum of $20. As you may know, Tigerdirect has taken over CompUSA after their financial kerffufle.

Ad Wars are in full-force! Lenovo is now mocking the MacBook Air and trying to gravy-train it at the same time! Oh those advertising peoples they are so smart! You may also remember the MadTV spoof-ads of Apple and PCs and music players and such. They were actually better than the original ads :)

If you want a quality brand laptop but at a lower price, one path is to chose refurbished. If you do, then consider the Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7802, a refurbished Notebook, offered by Tigerdirect for $600. Again for the speed-readers out there, this is refurbished. The main specs? Powered by the AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile TL-58 1.9GHz processor, has 2GB DDR2 memory, 160GB hard disk, and a lovely 17" WXGA+ TruBrite widescreen display. Also wireless of the Bee Gees variety (b/g), super multi format dvd burner, and Windows Vista Home Premium (argg?).

And we conclude this edition of the Inbox with 13" laptop bags picked up by your fashion consultants at Mode. Oops, I mean, PC World :)
