A trio of affordable laptop deals at Staples this week

Staples has a nice trio of affordable laptops for those who are interested in not paying an arm and a leg, especially considering the current economy.

And the most affordable of all is the Compaq Presior C770us, going for $450 after a $30 Easy Rebate. For that price, you are getting an Intel Pentium T2390 dual core processor, 2gb of memory, 160gb hard disk, 15.4" widescreen, dvd burner, memory card reader, wireless, and Vista SP1. Not bad for $450! I mean, what else can you ask for? Really?

If instead you prefer the Dell Studio 1535, the price is $700, but there are no rebates. You get your choice of color, and a T5750 dual core Intel processor, 3gb memory, 250gb hard disk, dvd burner, wireless, webcam, and Vista SP1. The display is a 15.4" widescreen. For a lot more Dell deals, be sure to check Dell Home.

Last but not least, for fans of 17" widescreen laptops and affordable prices, we find the HP Pavilion dv9910us for $700 after two $50 Easy Rebates ($50 + $50 = $100). Apart from the nice 17" display and the full-size keyboard (nice!), you get the AMD Turion dual core TL-60 processor, 3gb of memory, 250gb hard disk, webcam, wireless, bluetooth, and the lovely Vista SP1.

With multimedia getting bigger, longer, faster and more affordable, the need for extra storage is also increasing. Thus the $80 Western Digital MyPassport 160gb external hard disk drives.

If you don't want a cutesy portable external hard disk drive, but instead don't mind a bigger one, you can get the bang for the buck here, with a 500gb Maxtor OneTouch 4 for just $100. Not bad, 20 cents per gigabyte! And a terabyte you just pay twice as much, so the choice is yours!

Meanwhile a three-pack of PNY USB sticks goes for $35, making it essentially $35 for 6 gigabytes, but you get it in three sticks instead of one, which may be a good idea if you prefer to do multiple backups while you are on the road, or on assignment.

From the world of affordable $10 accessories, Targus is offering their notebook mouse or a 4-port USB hub or an external keypad. Each one is just $10! Get one, or get them all!

A monitor, an external monitor that is, is nice when you are planning to use a laptop at home or the office. And a 22" Staples ISP2107W widescreen LCD is going for just $250, no rebates. This is going to be hot, so don't be late! It has 1680x1050 resolution, 5ms response time, built-in USB ports (nice touch), and analog and DVI inputs.

Be sure to check out the other stuff in the Staples circular, as they have office supplies for as little as 5 pennies, as part of their back to school promotion.
